It would be good to see more of what Raising Dion is really all about.I love the backing this one on Kickstarter, and I loved the book trailer they did for it. This comic combines a classic origin story with the modern struggles of being a single mother in modern day.
2.99. I hope I can find more.It was so short but amazing, I can’t wait to read the next volume (That we don’t know anything about it yet) and I definitely can’t wait to watch the Netflix serie adaptationThe premise (superhero story from the perspective of the hero’s single mom) has a lot of promise. After all, others did. This story is just gripping and genuine. I felt it was a let down and will not continue it.I love the perspective of this first part of the comic: how is it to raise a kid with super powers? Comic Books. by TRAFFIK FILMWOKRS LLC. I'll certainly be on the look out for the remainder of the series. This is a beautifully illustrated comic. How do you raise a superhero? The story of a mother raising a son with super powers. The second half of the book gives us the origin story for Dion; I'm really glad Liu hit us with the hook before he got into the origin. I liked the trailer more than the actual comic, but that's because this is just the beginning, and I'm 100% sure it's going to get better each issue.
The story is a happy/sad one. A great debut!Well, done. It actually sets things up to raise interesting questions about why his mother ends up a widow, and how much she was affected by the event that shaped Dion's powers. This is a beautifully illustrated comic. The pacing, draftsmanship and coloring were also wonderful.
I felt like she was the kind of person you could sit down and laugh with and shake your heads about your kids. Together, they help the story to retain the interest of the reader.
I’m really looking forward to more! Which is a shame, really, but even considered in this light, I still think that Issue #1 of Raising Dion proved to be a decent read. There’s lots of talent that went into the making of this comic book. The artwork, especially the coloring, is beautiful.I read the first issue in preparation for the netflix series coming this friday.
This is a great introduction to these people and I can't wait for the next story.4 stars only because this is, as would be expected from a first volume, all exposition. A single black mother too. First and foremost the character of the mother is just great. 2015 This issue isn’t heavy on special effects lettering, which means that it can’t carry the full load that the issue expects of it.The story is solid. In fairness, though, the art and the coloring provide the story a boost. LING! The story follows Nicole as she attempts to raise her son Dion as a single mother. I liked what I read so far, but the issue I read was mostly the back story of the parents meeting and Dion’s conception. In order to study his progress, Nicole films her son 24/7 with the help of her friend, Pat, who is an aspiring filmmaker. I’m not sold on the pink borders for the narrative boxes, but that’s a small bone to pick. I hope that there are future editions though, and that this situation is remedied in them. There’s nothing amateur about the look of it, from those two perspectives. Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of I saw on Tumblr a post about this graphic novel and how it's going to be a new Netflix Original series and after watching the trailer, I was intrigued!I saw on Tumblr a post about this graphic novel and how it's going to be a new Netflix Original series and after watching the trailer, I was intrigued!I like the concept behind this story and would love to read the next issue, but it doesn't seem to exist. Netflix gave the green light to adapt it into a mini-series and there's a short film stylized as a trailer.
I was in tears most of the time.
In the first issue, we meet Nicole and her son, Dion, in the course of what winds up being fairly normal parenting moments, encouraging your child's gifts and scolding.
The tears were not bad things, in fact I think it is a sign that the writer and illustrator brought the story to life, told it in a way that was real and personal. 2.99. The art is beautiful and the writing is sharp and direct.
