It turns out, they're all a little bit like Hogwarts - the school for witches and wizards in the "Harry Potter" books and movies.
Our staircases luckily don’t move throughout the day, but there are some pretty neat architectural features on campus since Harvard is such an old and historical school. Just like at Hogwarts, Harvard students are sorted into different upperclassmen Houses after freshman year (though we have expedited the process by using a Housing Lottery rather than making everyone try on an old hat).

No trip to the Great Hall is needed to witness a proper Christmas feast, with the Freshman Holiday Dinner being one of the most celebrated and extravagant displays this side of Hogwarts.

In one single mealtime, a multitude of things are occurring all at once: a tutor works on her dissertation while students wish her luck; a group of juniors dine with their roommates and unwind; a student sits down and meets a new friend; another reads the Crimson; several students have a group meeting; a student catches up on email; a sophomore adviser and sophomore advisee chat about academics; and everything in between,” said Kate Drizos Cavell, House Administrator of the Kirkland House, Harvard University.“I think it’s rare that one single place can be so many things at once for so many people: an office, a study space, a meeting place, a lounge, a dining room, and most of all, a home.”Another resident student of Mather hall, Jing Qui ‘16 shared, “You can see the sunset from the glass wall, and when it’s the Regatta at the Charles, most of us just sit and watch it from here in our pajamas”.For more pictures of the other dining halls at Harvard, visit part II for this post here: StreetTrotter is a Travel, Culture & Lifestyle blog, inspiring people everyday with real stories to look good and travel even better. The Great Hall in the Hogwarts Castle was the main gathering area in the school, which was located off the Entrance Hall. The Past, Present, and Future: Exploring My Roots in Ecuador And that’s just three of them.Not only do we have a larger selection of classes than Hogwarts, but they are also (dare I say it) even more fascinating. During the academic year, Harvard's Dining Services department serves approximately 3,400 meals each day in Annenberg Hall. We have twelve Houses rather than four, and each has its own personality and serious House pride—including mascots!
