Astley Hall is a museum and art gallery housed within a Grade I listed historic house.
It is a unique record of the towns experience of the Great War and one womans endeavour to make Chorleys loss meaningful to whose who remained. The four wings of the house were extended by the families who lived here and most of the original features are retained to this day.The walled garden is a dedicated event space and since the Heritage Lottery funded renovation project in 2009 it has built up a varied programme of cultural events throughout the year.

Klaire Doyle is an interdisciplinary artist based in the North of England. The Park, Coach House and Walled Garden have recently been renovated with help from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Chorley Council. It is the ideal place to come and enjoy a great coffee or glass of wine and sample some of our homemade dishes.

The hall is now owned by the town and is known as Astley Hall Museum and Art Gallery. Within the grounds you will find acres of stunning parkland, the breath-taking Grade I historic house, the modernised Coach House which includes Café Ambio, the scenic Walled Garden, an exciting Pets Corner and an array of sports pitches and play areas. Its furniture, furnishings and paintings reflect the tastes of the four families who have lived at the Hall: Charnock, Brooke, Townley-Parker and Tatton. For one night only in November, Astley Hall will come alive with light, music and mystery as the jewel in Chorley’s crown is transformed. This room is the second largest servant bedroom, the Butler's being slightly bigger! www.gov.uk/coronavirus Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or coffee and a cake, the food and drink is regionally sourced and beautifully prepared.…furry, feathered and scaly friends in the delightful Pets’ Corner down by the pavilion and play areas.…on the at the sacrifice of the men and women of the Chorley Borough who served during World War One in the outdoor space at the Garden of Reflection.…some traditional fun family games on the tennis courts, bowling greens and putting greens with equipment that is free to hire between April and the end of September.Journey through over 400 years of history to reveal the secrets of Astley Hall, one of the most intriguing historic houses in the North West.This surprising building features some of the most breath-taking mid-17th century plaster ceilings in the country, rare painted panelling and very fine English oak furniture.Caring for the health and wellbeing of our visitors, staff and volunteers is a priority for Chorley Council and Astley Hall.Although the park open space remains open, some facilities within are closed until further notice, including some public toilets (the accessible toilet at the farmhouse is open) and pets corner (staff and students will continue to attend the site to care for the animals).Tennis courts, bowling greens and play areas are open however we urge you to follow latest guidelines when using them. You can find the sports equipment outside the Bowls Hut at Astley Park between 10am and 3pm subject to weather and ground conditions.Susannah Knight compiled a Memorial Album in 1921 recording the names and photographs of over 750 men of Chorley who lost their lives in the First World War.
