His lyrics are incredibly vague and generic - and he hard ever says anything witty or tries with some clever wordplay or a good punchline. This is the most radio-friendly song from Smokepurpp, which could alienate some fans yet could reach a unique one from Harlow’s fan base that enjoy his smash jingle “What’s Poppin.”For the Soundcloud rap scene, history was repeating itself as South Florida brought its own new standard to the table in the rap industry. MickyT. Something’s Wrong. Smokepurpp - Florida Jit (Album Review) Smokepurpp is back with a new project titled 'Flordia Jit' after a pretty lackluster 2018. Lil Pump is the first feature we hear on this album on the track In terms of subject matter, it's exactly what you'd expect from a Smokepurpp album - guns, flexing, sex, cooking drugs and attacking opps - and that literally is all there is too it.To conclude, there's nothing too complex with this album - it's full of bangers as well as some misses - but the highs just outweigh the lows.
Smokepurpp, believe it or not, was making some of the more atmospheric and intriguing trap rap out there, back in his soundcloud days. The elements of the production are the usual trap elements (with Ronny J's signature distorted 808s) - some songs involve a piano (such as Smokepurpp himself isn't exactly a great rapper. 'Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon' sounds like dying trying to get rich.
Purpp employed Ronny J for 10 tracks onSave for the melodic and pedestrian “Big Dawg” featuring Rick Ross, most of the tracks are no longer than two minutes, thirty seconds. The Florida rapper rose to fame via Soundcloud alongside his partner in crime Lil Pump (who has a feature on this), and after a few bangers here and there he all of a sudden started to see himself fall off. Smokepurpp's "FLORIDA JIT" is only further pushing Purpp and his aesthetic out of relevancy. Purpp's return to South Florida trap basics sounds so, well, basic. Thanks to a moody soundtrack and a bomb Lil Baby feature, this one earns it's spicy label.
While it boasts adrenaline-filled beats, hooks that are catchy, and rap flows that are intriguing, I can honestly say that I didn’t hear a single song that I would call “good.” The one thing that SmokePurpp does well on Florida JIT is rap with confidence. Besides the middling “Ends” featuring nearly inaudible Yung Nudy, the highlights that compensate for The most commercialized track is the mellow “Tide Pen” featuring a deadpan yet colorful recital from Jack Harlow.
Ronny J had a hand in the majority of the production on this album, and overall the production is pretty good with some banging beats - bar a few bland ones here and there. Make sure you typed in your email correctly. He may be finding his mojo once again, and this album could've been even better if some tracks were cut down and it was trimmed to a project of around 12-14 songs - now we just need Lil Pump to find his mojo as well and we can see some more bangers being released in 2020. He also enlisted appearances from rising stars Jack Harlow and Young Nudy. He maintains his insouciant lyrics against morality by glorifying gunplay, loot-stacking with sudden glib one-liners about his sex fantasies like on his previous releases. Smokepurpp is at an artistic crossroads for authenticity.
