Upon entering the Necropolis she meets the Flesh Mage, a psychotic creature that wears the skins of his female victims like a robe.

The plot unfolds and deepens as the player guides Rynn on her quest. Rynn questions the men there and finds out about a magic portal with "ice beasts". They fly to the Andrellian Isles to look for a guide to take them to Ravenshold, where the first of the gateways is located. Drakan: The Ancient Gates was one of the best games I played on the PS2 and despite the graphics I think the story and main characters still hold up till this day. All these settings are colorful and vividly detailed with realistic weather and lighting effects, and visibility remains high except when you soar way up to see mountains suddenly appear on the horizon as you fly by. Add great graphics, mean monsters, deadly traps, and huge areas to explore both from the sky and on foot, and you'll see that Drakan is clearly one of the better games in its class, even if it doesn't seem especially original.
