Kids could totally handle this hike.We were looking for relatively easy trails that we could tackle in an hour or so.

Cascadilla Gorge Trail Running from College Avenue in Collegetown to Linn Street in downtown Ithaca, this trail descends 400 feet, past several picturesque waterfalls within a deeply cut gorge. So many gorgeous spots for picture taking! Down trail is doable for the fit but if you have a knee problem it's challenging. The entire length is very picturesque and definitely a place to see.

Fall Creek Gorge begins just west of Beebe Lake, north of main campus. Stay humble. I did want to see the gorge around Cornell again, so we gave it a shot. I would recommend grabbing lunch in the commons and then taking the two block walk over to the gorge entrance at Court Street. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round. The trail had a few people on it, but not crowded at all. There is a well maintained and developed trail through the gorge, making it easy to walk, with only a few short stairways along the way. This is a beautiful trail that takes you past six waterfalls in Ithaca. We loved this trail!
I passed about 6 ppl total. Cool architecture to see along the walk (bridges, campus buildings, stone stairs). Dogs are also able to use this trail … It is absolutely beautiful. Quite short but has over 10 waterfalls. The trail is closed during winter. I hope the full trail is open and not blocked by gates next time I visit.A serene, quiet awe itself. Absolutely beautiful, one breathtaking waterfall after the next. With huge looming walls of high rock around us, and a big rain the night before causing lots of dramatic rushing water, it was quite dramatic and impressive to all the ages of our group, and the walk was easy enough for the 6 year old (be sure to keep an eye on children though, since the path is right up to the waterfalls, especially with more rain! Cascadilla seemed as though it might be too easy, and I couldn't find the actual length posted. Stay thankful.
The trail is dog-friendly, but, as with all NY state parks, there are no trash bins provided, and you must pack out your dog's waste, so come prepared. Recommended by a friend from Cornell. Students use the trail to go to and from class and you can see locals sitting alongside the creek, dipping their feet in the shallows. You'll see several waterfalls and have a lot of opportunity for photos. Cascadilla Gorge and Falls is right in the middle of downtown Ithaca, running through Cornell University. Within the gorge, Fall Creek plunges over six waterfalls, the last of which is Ithaca Falls. It was a fun thing for us to do and we would not hesitate to do it again if in the area. I was in a hurry to get back to the Cornell campus from the Commons area and I started from the west end of the trail. I clocked .7 miles one way and an elevation change of 294'. Beautiful views along a nice kept trailTrail is closed. The trail follows Cascadilla Creek through the gorge past waterfalls, ancient bedrock of shale and sandstone, and many plants adapted to gorge life. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. The water levels were on the lower side when we visited, but it's still amazing. Shorter than expected, but picturesque around every turn. The waterfalls are breathtaking, cascading over beautiful shale ledges at different angles. This is closed right now, but is a short beautiful spot right in the middle of the City. It was simply beautiful...so many textures of rock, lovely flowing waterfalls, nice scenery. I went around. Cascadilla Gorge Trail is an absolute MUST do.
